Opened account online and received approval email. The same day recoeved another message that the account had not been approved and closed. 2 weeks later recieve a debit card in the mail. Does not sound as though they have their procedures in place to open an accout. Never had issue like this with any other bank.

It's been two months since I paid off my loan and CN Bank says I still owe them 9 grand. They are quick to report negative information but apparently do not care at all about updating your file if you pay off your loan. 0/10 go with Advantage FCU or anywhere else. Advantage has better rates anyway.

Cares for their clients. Worked hard with me to help me reach my financial profile goals. Staff is easy to communicate with, either by phone or email.

The online banking experience is awful. I have to go to 3 different pages to see posted transactions, pending transactions, and transfer transaction details. It creates so much bouncing back and forth that it takes twice as long to do the bills each pay period. For that reason alone, I wouldn't recommend this bank.

This bank is very friendly and located right in my town within walking distance. They know me by name when I walk in the door and are ready to answer any questions I may have. I really enjoyed how easy it was to open a checking account and I was impressed with how much information hey gave me about their other services. They also offer a great savings program for children to really encourage them to save their money.A great bank!

The Citizens & Northern Bank Secured Credit Card is definitely a good card to start building credit from. There's a low annual fee and it'll give you a nice overhead of a $5000 credit limit so you can learn the ropes of a credit card. It makes sense that there are no rewards compared to many other cards since this is seen as something for beginners. The Max Late Fee is on par with many other fees but the pros are that there is no overlimit and max penalty apr fees. I'd rather check out the Open Sky Secured Visa Credit Card since it has a lower annual fee and a lower max late fee.

If this was your first credit card, then the Citizens & Northern Bank Secured Credit Card might be good. The credit limit is high, but there's a $35 annual fee and no rewards program. What the heck, my American Express from Costco has a $55 annual fee, but gives me a 3% cashback on gasoline + 1% cash back on other purchases + 2% on restaurants, AND my fee comes with Costco Membership! Even my first credit card, from Bank of America, was given to me with no credit score, offered 1% cash back, and had no annual fee! Even with a bad credit score, there's at least a Capital One Secured Mastercard that only charges $29 per year.

The way the credit card market is these days, with new consumer protection laws, just because you haven’t heard of a particular bank or its not one of the big boys doesn’t mean it can’t offer a good credit card, even the best for your needs. That’s the kind of approach you should bring to evaluating the Citizens & Northern Bank Visa Platinum Card. Don’t dismiss it offhand because if it has the best terms, it has the best terms. First of all, the Citizens & Northern Bank Visa Platinum Card doesn’t offer rewards. It does offer 0% on purchases and transfers for 12 months though. That’s about it. Unfortunately, that means the Citizens & Northern Bank Visa Platinum Credit Card isn’t a very competitive option after all. Plenty of cards on the market now offer 0% on purchases and transfers for longer than 12 months AND have some form of rewards, modest or otherwise.

When it comes to alternatives to this Citizens & Northern Bank Visa it really depends on what you’re looking for out of your credit card. People who want rewards should either get a card with a good cash back rate across all purchases like the Capital One Cash Card (1.5%), a card offering a lucrative initial bonus like the Chase Sapphire Preferred ($500 - $625) or a card with increased rewards on your biggest expenses (e.g. Amex’s Blue Cash Everyday). For those who want a 0% rate the Citi Simplicity and Platinum Select cards are obviously better choices than the Citizens & Northern Bank Visa Card since they both offer 0% on purchases and transfers for 21 months.
