We were watching Ozark recently, and (spoiler alert) Ben asks Ruth on a date. He asks her to dinner, then lunch, then a snack. And I said to Pete that if someone asked me on a snack date, I’d agree because I love snacks. Which is why I love these Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut Holes.

So if you want to date me, just ask me out on a snack date.

Or don’t. Honestly. I’m married. And my husband loves my Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut Holes.

That’s funny too because Pete generally doesn’t love sweets. He craves vegetables more than dessert. So he was praising these and I was taken aback. “Of course they’re delicious,” I said. “I’m really good at cooking and baking.”

“Yes,” he agreed with me. “But I usually don’t care about dessert.”

And then, not too long later, he popped another doughnut hole in his mouth.

Grease a 24-count muffin pan.

Use a melon baller to add a heaping scoop of mix into each cavity in the muffin pan. Don’t worry if the mix doesn’t stay round when it gets into the pan. When you add the coating, you won’t notice.

Melt the butter for the coating in a bowl.

In a separate bowl, mix together the white sugar and cinnamon.

Coat the doughnut holes in the butter, then the cinnamon sugar mixture. Set them back on the wire cooling rack to cool completely.

These will last in an air tight container for up to a week.

If you want a variation, I also made these as powdered doughnuts. Instead of the cinnamon sugar mix, coat the doughnut holes in butter followed by powdered sugar (the full recipe calls for 2/3 cup of powdered sugar).
