Curriculum and course content are the responsibility of faculty, not politicians. Students can choose which school to go to and what to learn. If they think a school leans too much to one side politically and they aren’t mature enough to learn about opposing views, then they can select to attend somewhere that aligns with their preconceived beliefs. Politicians’ goals are to sustain and increase their voter base, not to influence advanced learning.

#ClassActionNotice #StudentsDid you attend Loyola Chicago back in 2020, at the start of COVID-19? You may be able to collect 💰 based on a class action lawsuit settlement.Who might be eligible?"You are included in this lawsuit if you were a student enrolled in any Loyola program and assessed any tuition or fees for the Spring 2020 semester except if (i) you enrolled in online-only courses for the Spring 2020 semester, (ii) withdrew from Loyola on or before March 17, 2020, or (iii) have requested to block the release of your Directory Information and have not agreed to remove that block."How much can you collect?"The amount of your payment will depend on whether you paid certain lab fees – namely the Biology Science Lab fee, the Physics Science Lab fee, the Chemistry Science Lab fee, Language Lab fees or the Fine Arts Lab fee. It will also depend on how many requests for exclusion are submitted. Each Class Member who does not opt out of the Settlement, and who was assessed one or more of the lab fees described above, will receive a pro-rata refund of those fees from the Settlement Fund. After payments of those lab fee refunds are made, the remaining Net Settlement Fund will be allocated pro-rata to the remaining Settlement Class Members who do not opt out of the Settlement."What's the name of the lawsuit and where is it filed?"The case is Pfeifer, et al. v. Loyola University of Chicago, Case No. 1:20-cv-03116 (previously captioned Gociman v. Loyola University of Chicago), and is pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (the “Lawsuit”). Loyola denies that it had any such contractual obligation and denies Plaintiffs’ allegations."Read the legal notice carefully. Academic ExpectationsChoose any of your classes, do you know what is expected from them? Do you know what is expected from them in terms of achievement for the school year? What progress should the class be making? What progress should each pupil be attaining? What is the starting point of their educational journey?I have a lot of questions above, but I’m going to break them down into what I see as the appropriate actions that all teachers should be undertaking to know the progression of each pupil in your charge.I have in the past seen management of schools belittling a teacher for having on average; a lower pass rate than their peers.‘Oh Mr. Turner’s class achieved a pass rate of 60% in their last exams, your class reached an average of 45%. Please explain this discrepancy’I have changed the name but the rest is a true representation of what said in front of me to a valued and hard-working colleague. My first reaction was are they f#@king joking? My second was are we an accountancy firm or a school? You cannot judge a teacher’s ability from their classes results. There I have said it. Do Real Madrid congratulate themselves if they beat Real Valladol by one goal? No, it is all about starting point and value added. Who has achieved more? Who has really progressed?Value added- the difference between the starting point and finishing point of a pupil’s achievements. This is a true representation of a teacher’s ability. If you give me a class of Grade A* pupils and they achieve A* then so what? If I raise Grade D pupils to a Grade B then I’m really teaching! I know I am simplifying matters, but I still am very concerned that certain schools, education authorities, etc. judge their performance by their pass rates and not improvement rates.
